I am originally from San Diego, California where I obtained both a B.S. and a B.A. degree from San Diego State University in 1986, After spending several years in the private business sector, I attended California Western School of Law, graduating in 1991.

I spent the first seven years of my legal career in San Diego, California, where I represented more than 400 clients in a wide range of legal matters, including personal injury, medical malpractice, contract disputes and wrongful banking practices. It was during these initial years in California that I honed my negotiation and litigation skills.

In 1999, I relocated to Northern Virginia and focused my practice on family law issues of divorce, custody and visitation, child support, spousal support (alimony) and equitable distribution of property.

Immediately after passing the Virginia Bar in 1999, I joined McDowell and Associates where I learned all aspects of family law. I joined The Duff Law Firm in June 2004, where I continued to handle all aspects of family law matters, and became a Principal of the Firm in February 2009.

On October 1, 2016, I opened my practice, The Law Office of Alanna Williams, PLLC
